ABOUT

Nature’s imperfections and the captivating sight of seasons changing makes for a delicate nature. I believe floral designing should reflect this, as well as the true personality of the couple, occasion, or event I’m working with.

My arrangements are created with full, lush blooms that reflect the client’s wishes, respects the current season and brings out the natural beauty of each flower. It creates a mood and sets an atmosphere, all the while capturing its own effortless beauty.

No flower is the same, and neither are my arrangements. Throughout my years of experience, I noticed where things can go wrong during planning or execution and learned how to avoid them. I trust suppliers who I’ve been working with for years and know what to expect from each season’s blooms.

Arranging flowers are a big part of the process, but I believe planning and being resourceful are just as critical. I respect every stage a flower goes through, from the fading of its colour until the last pedal drops.

It’s both delicate and robust.

MEET JUDY

Flowers, gardening, nature, and the great outdoors have been part of my life ever since I can remember. I grew up in a family of enthusiastic gardeners and watching them plant, grow and care for seedlings, sparked a passion within me. I was usually in trouble for harvesting their seasonal joys too early!

I always knew I would end up in the creative industry someday, so it came as no surprise to my family when I started a course in clothing and interior design after school. After completing my studies, I started working in the antique and interior design industry and soon left for the USA where I stayed for four years, completing various courses in antique jewelry techniques, and working in the same field.

South Africa soon came calling and I moved back to Stellenbosch where I worked at the Arts department of the University for a while. It was during this time, that I was introduced to Okasie Рlegendary floral artists! Chris and Dan̩ were the perfect mentors and my passion for flowers and plants suddenly burst into all kinds of colours, dreams, and hopes for the future. My background in antique jewellery and interior design suddenly came to play once I started designing flowers in a certain way. During my years with the Okasie team, my enthusiasm grew and unfolded, until one day when I decided to fly on my own and started Met Liefde Blomme.

Met Liefde Blomme was the seedling I cared and looked out for, but now it has bloomed into something new and exciting and The Delicate Nature.

PORTFOLIO

Every detail of the process, from that first inspiration picture leading all the way up to the wedding day, is important to me. My mission is to transform a space into my client’s vision by considering the interior, the décor elements, and the personality of my client.

My focus is set on detail, and I believe by combining small elements of specific components, alongside a well-thought-out plan, can create inspirational art! It is important that my clients identify with my creations and with what I present for their wedding day.

REAL WEDDINGS

I use a very personal approach when it comes to the planning of a client’s wedding flowers – no one knows their vision better than the marrying couple themselves. My highest interest lies within creating a look and style that is a mere extension of who the couple is, bringing their personality into the design and reflecting their inspiration.

Each of the weddings I’ve done came with their own style and inspiration. It gave me so much pleasure to see the client’s joy when we realised their initial idea.
